A different view of Captain Clarke's Bridge

Views of Captain Clarke's bridge over the Peak Forest Canal are usually taken from the South where it's design is more evident, or from the towpath if looking North.

This photograph was taken more than two years ago by Tom Wigley who had crossed over to the other bank in order to photograph a lost memorial to members of the St George's Sunday School Rowing Club who had lost their lives in the Second World War.

Those photographs can be seen on Old Hyde.

  3. Any spot on a canal is interesting, there is so much history. My friends have an ice cream boat on our stretch of the Leeds - Liverpool canal and now it has brightened I feel like strolling down for one.
